‘There is no infection Vitamin C does not help. Vitamin C in massive amounts, many tens of grams perhaps by IV (intravenous) administration, will provide a powerful adjunct treatment to ANY DISEASE.’
Dr.Thomas Levy.
Dr. Levy, was a practising physician for 25 years and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Unfortunately, the use of vitamin C as a therapy has largely been ignored and instead people prefer to trust the pills, potions and drugs routinely prescribed by conventional doctors. Most drugs are toxic and are designed only to treat symptoms and not to cure. Even a drug as commonly used as aspirin decreases the body’s reserves of folic acid, iron, potassium, sodium and vitamin C. (See article "Vitamin and Mineral depletion caused by Prescription Drugs)
DOCTORS HARD TO CONVINCE Dr. Levy points out that despite the fact that the effectiveness and safety of a therapy using large doses of vitamin C has been known for some time, he never ceases to be amazed at the number of people who remain unaware that vitamin C is actually the best broad-spectrum antibiotic, antihistamine, antitoxic and antiviral substance there is. Equally surprising is the ease with which most of the medical profession and virtually all of the media have been convinced that, somehow, vitamin C is not only ineffective but actually harmful. Dr. Fred Klenner observed that some physicians would stand by and see their patients die rather than use ascorbic acid because in their finite minds it exists only as a vitamin. Vitamin C should be given to the patient while the doctors ponder the diagnosis. BENEFIT TO CANCER PATIENTS Dr Linus Pauling, often known as the 'Father of Vitamin C' and twice awarded the Nobel Prize, declared that large intakes of up to 10g of the vitamin each day aids anti-cancer activity within the body. Pauling was often derided for making these declarations, but today, large doses of Vitamin C are used by many practitioners for cancer patients undergoing nutritional therapy. They believe Pauling was right and that this popular nutrient is indispensable to the body in its fight to regain health from cancer. The standard oncology treatments are extremely expensive while IV vitamin C is relatively inexpensive. It is sad to say that conventional medicine is, as a general rule, notoriously disinterested in solutions that are not of financial benefit. Dr. Ronald Hunninghake who is an internationally recognized expert on vitamin C and has personally supervised more than 60,000 intravenous (IV) vitamin C administrations, said that treating cancer patients with IV vitamin C was found to be very beneficial. ‘It's not considered a stand-alone therapy for cancer, but it's a perfect adjunct to any kind of therapy that the cancer patient is receiving at the time.’ INABILITY OF HUMANS TO MAKE VIT.C Dr.Hunninghake explained why it is that humans need so much vitamin C. ‘Every creature, when they are sick, greatly increases their liver's or their kidney's production of vitamin C. But humans, primates, and guinea pigs have lost that ability. We still have the gene that makes the L-gulonolactone oxidase enzyme that converts glucose to vitamin C but it's non-functional. We have to get our vitamin C from the outside; from food.’ When vitamin C is given intravenously it has the effect of recreating the liver’s ability to synthesize large amounts of this essential vitamin. ‘I always look upon high dose vitamin C as Nature's way of dealing with crisis in terms of your health. This notion however does not exist in the conventional thinking in the medical mind.’ According to Dr.Matthias Rath, CVD (cardio vascular disease) can be triggered by ascorbate deficiency. The impaired integrity and stability of the vascular wall is caused by chronically low dietary ascorbate intake. ‘If these mechanisms overshoot, heart attack, stroke and other forms of CVD develop.’ Ascorbate is vitamin C in its complete form as found in Nature, ascorbic acid is a component of ascorbate. RADIO ACTIVE PROTECTION After the nuclear disaster at Fukushima in Japan, Dr. Atsuo Yanagisawa, M.D., Ph.D., from the Japanese College of IV Therapy conducted a study which found that workers who underwent a high-dose vitamin C pre-treatment prior to handling radioactive debris during cleanup efforts were protected against DNA damage and cancer. TREATMENT FOR INFECTIOUS DISEASES
There are many examples showing how infectious diseases of childhood such as measles, pertussis (whooping cough) and diphtheria have been successfully treated with large doses of vitamin C. Dr.Levy observed ‘it appears susceptibility for serious complications from measles and pertussis is nothing more than a vitamin C deficiency. Scurvy is an indicator of very low vitamin C levels.' Dr. Irwin Stone in his book ‘The Healing Factor, Vitamin C against Disease’, explains that as a result of the genetic mutation some 60 million years ago, which left humans without the essential enzyme to make ascorbic acid, it means that ‘we humans are living in a state of subclinical scurvy and this is the basis for many of the ills of mankind.’ He claims, "full correction" can be achieved by dissolving half a level teaspoon of ascorbic acid powder in 2oz of water or fruit juice three times a day. This full correction merely attempts to duplicate in Man a normal physiological process taking place all the time in other mammals." Graphs show that between 1901 and 1967 deaths from scurvy decreased in parallel with deaths from other infectious diseases including measles and pertussis. Vitamins C, D and A, the anti-infective vitamins, may prevent the most serious complications of many childhood diseases and thus eliminate the need for vaccinations. VITAMIN C’S ANTIBIOTIC POWERS In her book ‘Dissolving Illusions’, Dr.Suzanne Humphries traces the history of childhood infectious diseases and observes that deaths from some, such as pertussis, were on the decline before the introduction of the vaccine in the late 1940s. Vitamin C’s benefit during infection has much to do with the neutralization of bacterial and viral toxins and with the supply of ascorbic acid to blood cells. Scientists are researching the antimicrobial effect of vitamin C on certain bacterial infections with the vitamin essentially acting as an antibiotic. Dr. Klenner pointed out, ‘The importance of Vitamin C as an antibiotic and as the precursor of antibody formation lacks scientific appreciation because of its simplicity. The reluctance of the medical profession to employ it in massive doses like antibiotics has allowed the appearance of allergies as a major problem’. Rickets has made a comeback in parts of the UK; a disease more associated with Victorian slums than with modern Britain. It causes softening of the bones due to a deficiency not only of vitamin D, magnesium, phosphorous and calcium, but also of vitamin C which Dr Humphries observes is very important for healthy bone mineralisation and bone formation. In addition, vitamin C preserves the integrity of the inter-vertebral discs, thus preventing back trouble. She draws attention to the fact that doctors have used vitamin C effectively in cases of poliomyelitis, opiate withdrawal, coronary artery disease, cancer, life-threatening sepsis, encephalitis, pneumonia and other conditions but unfortunately, their work has either been forgotten or actively denied. Is it not time to acknowledge the huge benefits of this simple, safe method of treating disease and put it into front line practice? Diehards in the medical profession may never want to accept this proven treatment for many diseases as it conflicts with what they have been taught in medical school, so it is up to the patients themselves to insist on it if they feel it could help them.
